Curt Walton, Co-Founder
Curt Walton is the co-founder of Walton & Hall LLC and serves as a management consultant and advisor to North Carolina municipalities, counties, non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, and the private sector. He draws upon significant executive experience to assess complex organizations and constituencies, uses a systems approach to address specific challenges, and works collaboratively with clients to identify solutions to advance organizations.
Curt has executive leadership experience in municipal government, non-profits and in higher education. After beginning his management career as Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Curt transitioned to the City of Charlotte for a 28-year career, holding the positions of Budget Director, Assistant City Manager, Deputy City Manager and ultimately City Manager. Curt then served in Management Consulting roles as interim Executive Director for the Council of Children’s Rights, University City Partners, Classroom Center and the 24 Foundation. He also held the position of Assistant Vice President for Foundation For The Carolinas. Most recently, Curt was honored to join the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as Executive in Residence, as Interim Associate Provost for Urban Research and Community Engagement, and with a graduate faculty appointment in Public Administration.
Curt earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has continued his professional development through the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Government, the Center for Intentional Leadership and Leadership Charlotte.
Curt is a life member of both the International City/County Management Association and the North Carolina City and County Managers Association. He has served on many non-profit Boards of Directors and has been honored to have received a number of awards and recognitions, including the Order of the Longleaf Pine from Governor Beverly Perdue, Governor of the State of North Carolina. He currently serves in several leadership positions at Matthews United Methodist Church.
